The Yeshasvini Co-operative Farmers Health Care Scheme provides cost-effective medical facilities to farmers across the state courtesy cooperative societies registered with the Department of Cooperatives. This scheme targets informal workers in the lower-middle income and middle-income groups. In other words, any peasant in Karnataka can have access to medical facilities, provided he or she is a member of any cooperative society.
What is Yeshasvini Cooperative Farmers Health Care Trust?
Registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882, the Yeshasvini Cooperative Farmers Health Care Trust was established to ensure efficient implementation of the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme. The chief patron of the Trust is the chief minister of Karnataka while the patron is the minister for cooperation.

Salient Features of Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme:
Members of Karnataka Rural Co-operative Society are eligible for the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme.
- The family of the main member of Rural Co-operative Society can avail the benefits offered under the scheme.
- Every year, the beneficiaries of this scheme must pay a fixed amount of annual contribution. For FY2017-18, Rs.300 is the member contribution for Rural Yeshasvini, and for Urban Yeshasvini, it is Rs.710.
- Each enrollment period for the scheme starts from July to October every year.
- The scheme begins from 1st June and ends on 31st May of the next year.
- Members of self-help groups, weavers, fisherman cooperative societies, Beedi workers, and Stree Shakti Group carrying out financial transactions with cooperative society or banks are eligible for the scheme.
Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme Implementation Procedure:
730 network hospitals having a tie-up with the trust are involved in the implementation of Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme. It includes private as well as government hospitals. According to the empanelment criteria, the network hospitals are given approval by the trust to offer medical facilities. The Management Support Service Provider (MSP) arranges for cashless hospitalisation through these 730 network hospitals. The Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme implementation process is as follows:
- The Yeshasvini beneficiary visits a network hospital that the trust recognises and approves of.
- A coordinating officer of the network hospital will examine the beneficiary’ UHID card.
- Beneficiary must pay an enrollment fee.
- Then the patient has to undergo initial diagnosis and few basic medical tests.
- Depending on the initial diagnosis, the network hospital will send a pre-authorisation request online with supporting documents to the MSP.
- Doctors appointed by the MSP will examine the request and approval will be given within a day.
- Making note of the limits specified under the scheme, cashless treatment will be provided to the beneficiary by the network hospital.
- After discharge, the network hospital will submit the original bills, discharge summary, and other medical documents to the MSP for settling the claim.
- The trust will settle the claim to the network hospital through the MSP within 45 days of receipt of the documents.
Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme Medical Benefits:
- Surgical procedures of 823 types specified by the Yeshasvini Trust is covered under the scheme at rates pre-negotiated with the partner hospitals.
- Medical emergencies like snake bite, dog bite, bull gore injuries, electric shocks, accidents, and drowning occurring when using agricultural implements are covered under the scheme.
- Normal delivery, angioplasty procedures, and neonatal care are covered under the scheme.
