How does the app mCent earn money?

“mCent is a great way to discover free Android apps and get rewarded with free airtime right on your mobile phone.”

It might look like they are giving out “free” airtime but this is most probably how it works

There is a concept called “CPI” (cost per install) in the advertising industry. What happens in this type of model is as follows

Say there are two apps A (say mCent) and B (Olx/flipkart etc) .

App A runs ads/promotions/any kind of CPI campaign for app B and the users of app A click on the campaign and “install” app B on their devices. App B does attribution tracking (a way to check where the users of their app came from) and pays app A for every install that happens from/via app A.

mCent does exactly the same thing “Just download mCent and register with your mobile number. Next, we’ll show you some great new apps that we think you’ll love. Download and try out the apps, and we’ll reward you with free airtime”. They make money from those “new apps” through CPI and since the user was made to download new apps , they reward him with free airtime.
